ARTIST’S STATEMENT

The “Green Series” began several years ago. Its meaning derives back from the Green Movement of the 60’s and Green Peace. Now the concept of Green has come to encompass a much larger universe. In 2006 it came to my attention that the Green Movement was becoming a social force of such consequences that I decided to do an ongoing series of paintings.

This series was conceived as a gift to worth-while causes or in recognition of contribution to the greening of society.

I often start with a drawing, or mark, on the canvas of something that interests me. Then I’ll do colour washes over this, ending with washes of green. The paintings are always done for a particular event or organization, which adds to their uniqueness as I have that in mind as I work
